Oceanside, NY (MPN) – Last Tuesday, Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in a decisive electoral victory, that also gave Republicans control over both the House and Senate. The Victory came as a surprise to few, outside of the Democratic Party, but one that many, including myself, had hoped would not come to pass.
The election comes off the heels of a tumultuous campaign that saw 2 “Assassination attempts” against former President Trump and a Democratic race that changed its ticket in the middle of the campaign season.
But now, we face a dark moment in American History, one that despite the sugarcoating, is coming, and one we must all be prepared for.
Trump Plans to Consolidate Power
As I mentioned in my endorsement for Kamala Harris, Donald Trump plans on transforming America into a single-party theocratic dictatorship. Trump has begun stacking his cabinet with loyalists and sycophants, such as Marco Rubio and Kristi Noem, Utterly unqualified individuals like Lee Zeldin, Matt Gaetz, and Tulsi Gabbard, and Outraging Psychotics such as Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller. Trump has chosen his cabinet with one purpose, to fail.
Despite attempts to distance himself from it, Project 2025 is the textbook for which his America will be built on. Civil servants, generals, entire agencies, discarded for loyalists and Nationalists, who seek to purge America of what they deem to be undesirable individuals.
“The Fault, Dear Brutus, is not in our Stars, But in Ourselves,”
The Question of why Kamala Harris lost the election has been tossed around these last few days, with people offering varying degrees of explanations from Gaza to the insane theory that she was “too woke”, but, the fault, is solely on the American people itself.
The Nation, of course, was dealing with rising costs, which many failed to point out was caused by Donald Trump’s handling of the Pandemic, and mostly stabilized, and that certainly drove voters to the Republicans, but the underlying issue is much deeper than that.
There is among many people, a general sense of fatigue regarding elections, after all people hear every four years about elections being pivotal to the future of our Republic. But the truth is, Many Americans are tired of it. A good chunk of people don’t like the idea of having to go to the polls and choose a new leader, people have things to worry about, their jobs, their families, their own health, and the idea of going to vote or having to get involved in Politics, takes away time. These Americans don’t want that burden, they want someone else to handle the problem for them, a Strongman who can govern while people live their lives, not having to worry about elections or divisions.
Along with dreading that sense of responsibility, these same individuals also seek something else, something my father calls “Permission to Hate”.
The Backbone of this nation was built on Genocide and Slavery, and even as the nation has always been hailed as the land of the free, there has always been exclusion and intolerance. Americans are quick to jump on xenophobic bandwagons, and are even quicker to dismiss or disregard movements to change that. During the Civil Rights movement, a majority of Americans felt the protests were “too extreme”, while in 2020, A Majority of Americans supported using the military against the Black Lives Matter movement. In 1939, Americans overwhelmingly rejected accepting Jewish Refugees from Germany. This Country remains, even after years of progressive policies, as racist, and intolerant, as it was back then.
With voter fatigue and bigotry, the storm was there for Donald Trump to take command, and that is exactly, what he did.
Buyers remorse will set it, and many Americans will ultimately come to realize they made a mistake, particularly swing state voters and traditional conservative republicans who voted for economic reasons. Trump’s lack on knowledge on tariffs, will hit us harder than it hits other nations as the prices of goods will increase by 20%, and the Deportation of Millions of Hispanic and Latin American Immigrants will cause labor shortages. More than that, the crackdowns on free speech, which will target acts of criticism against the President and his staff, will cause public upheaval.
My theory is that Blue States, who rejected President Trump, will likely have to band together to protect themselves. Having rejected Donald Trump’s ideology, they will find themselves forced to defend the line between freedom and autocracy, which could force them to take a more drastic measure.
Secession
But the fight continues, for now.
